As is well known, corrosion protection measures within closed packaging must be taken at a relative humidity of 40% or higher - therefore Corpac relies on the safe and proven VCI method for temporary corrosion protection.
Companies that do not want to take any risks when transporting or storing their products continue to rely on the technically stable and established VCI packaging.
When does corrosion occur?
Current knowledge indicates that corrosion on metallic packages begins at approximately 40% relative humidity. This value also appears on the website of the German Insurance Association (GDV) in the "Corrosion Protection During Shipping" section.
This is also the reason why humidity indicator cards with a color change at 40% RH are used (TL 6685-0003). At this humidity level, measures must be considered to prevent corrosion. Even minor signs of corrosion on metal packages are considered a defect and often grounds for complaint.
Why Corpalin® VCI?
Corpac's VCI method remains the most intelligent solution currently available on the market for temporary corrosion protection solutions. The packaged goods are protected from the start – regardless of external influences, such as room humidity.
The advantages of COEX films
Corpalin® VCI film from Corpac has the advantage of preventing uncontrolled VCI release, as it is produced exclusively from COEX films. Here, the VCI active ingredient acts inward (toward the component) and is neutral toward the outside. This means there is no loss to the outside.
Unlike monofilms, which are effective on both sides, users do not come into contact with the active ingredient. Monofilms can, of course, also be produced for interlayers or upon customer request. Due to the low water vapor permeability of the COEX films, combined with high-quality corrosion protection additives, the Corpalin® COEX film ensures long-term corrosion protection.
In addition to proven corrosion protection solutions, Corpac is increasingly focusing on sustainability issues
With the concepts Corpac Green Life and Corpac Re-Lease, Corpac has succeeded in making a contribution to sustainable business.
Corpalin® Green Life from Corpac stands for sustainable VCI film packaging. The use of regenerated material in Corpalin® VCI films saves CO2 while maintaining the same product quality. Furthermore, the VCI film, which is 100% recyclable, has been manufactured in a CO2-neutral manner since 2022. This was made possible by the construction of photovoltaic parks and the planting of new trees in combination with green electricity.
The Corpac Re-Lease concept offers companies the opportunity to lease corrosion protection films instead of purchasing them. The goal is to establish a sustainable and closed-loop recycling system.
