DESICCIENT AS CORROSION PROTECTION
COR-DRY® Desiccant packaging
If the packaged goods are exposed to climatic changes during storage or transport, critical humidity levels can easily build up within the packaging. This water vapor can lead to corrosion. Using a water vapor-tight film (aluminum composite film or TL film) in combination with a desiccant, the humidity within the packaging is reduced to such an extent that there is no risk of corrosion to the packaged goods.
The desiccant method can be used as follows:
- Overseas transport: Protection against corrosion and other damage to machinery and spare parts during container shipping. Protection duration up to 2 years when used with TL foil or aluminum composite foil according to HPE packaging regulations.
- Electronics: Protection against moisture damage for circuit boards, sensors, and other electronic components. Also available with ESD protection.
- Warm components: A perfect complement to VCI film when packaging warm components to prevent corrosion in the first few hours. Desiccant bags prevent condensation while the VCI protection is still being applied.
- Long-term storage: In combination with VCI barrier films made of aluminum composite, desiccants can contribute to corrosion protection for long-term storage of up to 20 years.
- Food/pharmaceuticals: Prevention of mold growth or quality deterioration.
Desiccant unit
Corrosion protection packaging requires desiccants and a barrier film (aluminum composite film or TL film). A calculation formula determines the amount of desiccant units required. We are happy to assist you with this and ensure that your packaged goods are safely protected against corrosion.
