VCI corrosion protection products are not ordinary commercial products. They require fundamental expertise – because they only achieve their full protective effect when they are properly selected, applied, and combined.

Incorrect use of VCI packaging
VCI agents are only effective if they adhere to the metal surface. VCI films or VCI paper must be placed as close to the metal surface as possible. Cushioning materials such as packing paper or similar materials must not be placed between the VCI film and the metal surface.
Packaging of damp or warm components
VCI products are capable of compensating for corrosion caused by condensation. If additional moisture is introduced by remaining production residues or very high levels of moisture from warm components during the packaging process, the corrosion protection provided by VCI can be negatively impacted. Only package dry parts that have cooled to room temperature.
Inspection of cold components
If cold components are inspected at temperatures below 10 °C in a warm warehouse or measurement room, condensation will form on the cold metal surfaces. This will inevitably lead to corrosion unless oils or waxes have been used for corrosion protection. Allow cold metal components to acclimatize before opening the corrosion protection packaging. This may take more than 12 hours.
