VpCI-Packaging Products

Cortec® offers a full line of standard and custom packaging products in conformance with military, ASTM, DIN, JIS, BS, and other international standards. Cortec® packaging products include papers, films, foams, cushioning bubbles, and inserts.

When your customers use our products, they can rely on the same corrosion protection to prolong the service life of their products. Cortec® VpCI™ Technology protects electrical and electronic equipment during manufacturing, storage, shipping, operation, and shutdown. Cortec® water-based or oil-based barrier coatings protect installed valves and pumps from atmospheric corrosion. Cortec® additives protect lubricant systems from corrosive environments and contaminants.

In cases, where equipment or systems require lay-up – temporary shutdown or long-term mothballing – Cortec® products can be applied quickly, with little or no surface preparation (depending on the product). Cortec's VpCI™ Technology provides corrosion protection to external and internal metal surfaces and parts. The degree of protection needed is based on the severity of the environment and the length of exposure to corrosive elements. The protected equipment system will always be ready for immediate use.

High Technology Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibiting Films and Bags

VpCI-126® Film

VpCI (Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor) 126 Series films combine the latest film technology with the most effective corrosion protection for all of your metal products. Sealing your product in Corpac VpCI films protects metal parts from all types of corrosion including rust, tarnish, stains, white rust and oxidation for up to 5 years.* It’s as easy as putting your product in a Cortec® VpCI package!
*Depending on film construction thickness and application

Cortec® VpCI films and bags replace conventional rust preventatives such as oils and desiccants. You save even more because Corpac VpCI packaging eliminates all the degreasing or coating removal required in the past. Your product can now be used immediately. VpCI-126® is transparent, making it easy to identify parts. Additionally, it does not contain free amines, phosphates, or halogen-based materials, and is non-toxic and recyclable.

VpCI-126® can be manufactured utilizing a wide array of the most advanced resins. Custom blends are available to give you the exact properties you need, whether it’s improved puncture resistance, tear strength or other requirements.

VpCI-126® Series films and bags protect metal objects as small as a needle to as large as the contents of an oceangoing container.

Multimetal Protection

Metal parts packaged in Cortec® VpCI-126® receive continuous protection against salt, excessive humidity, condensation, moisture, aggressive industrial atmospheres and dissimilar metal corrosion. The Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors vaporize and then condense on all metal surfaces in the enclosed package. VpCI reaches every area of your part, protecting its exterior as well as hard-to-reach interior surfaces. You get complete product protection during storage as well as during domestic and overseas shipments, virtually eliminating any rust claims.

Cor-Pak® Bubbles

Cor-Pak® bubbles protect precision machined parts and highly sensitive electronic components. They protect against breakage, surface damage, or scratches. Due to it's isolating properties Cor-Pak® bubbles helps to prevent condensation plus a absorbing potential.

Our VpCI-Stretchfilm provides a optimal cling together with a excellent vapor phase corrosion protection. The applications vary from wrapping steal coils to wrap large steal components.

VpCI-130 Foam

Unique, flexible packaging materials that combine VpCI protection, cushioning and desiccant action, plus excellent antistatic capabilities! Cortec® VpCI-130 Series Foams provide effective corrosion protection, cushioning and desiccant action all in one step. You can now eliminate expensive and messy rust preventatives with the unique Cortec® VpCI-130 Series Foams. Parts protected with Cortec ® VpCI-130 Series Foams are always ready for use, no degreasing or coating removal is required. Application of multifunctional materials such as Cortec® VpCI-130 Series Foams results in significant weight and labor savings.

Metal parts packaged with Cortec® VpCI-130 Series Foams receive continuous protection against humidity, condensation, aggressive industrial atmospheres, dissimilar metal corrosion (galvanic corrosion), salt air, and residual impurities left after processing.

VpCI-130 Series Foams are specially designed with vapor corrosion inhibitor impregnated throughout the foam’s polymeric matrix. They are excellent for protection of ferrous, non-ferrous metals and alloys such as: steel, copper, brass, aluminum, zinc, solder, silver, etc. Cortec® VpCI-130 Series Foams do not change critical physical and/or chemical properties of electronic components, and are suitable for protection of printed curcuit boards.

Cortec® VpCI-130 Series Foams and are nitrite- and chromate-free. The high performance patented formulation of VpCIs provides fast, easy-to-use protection even in aggressive overseas shipments.

VpCI-130 Series Foams contain approximately ten (10) times more VpCI chemical per square foot (square meter) of subtrate than the traditional VPI papers and other wrapping materials. This makes possible the protection of objects with large surface areas, i.e., aluminum and steel coils. The unique combination of high and low vapor pressure VpCI contained in VpCI-130 Series Foams affords long-term protection for large export packages, crates and seagoing containers. Combine VpCI-130 Foam and Corpac VpCI®-126 film to offer a highly effective VpCI® solution. VpCI®-130 Foam works together with VpCI®-126 Film to create a highly effective VpCI packaging solution.
